As in past years, about 70% of the graduating class of nearly 900 plan to go to colleges and universities, said Beth Arey, college and career coordinator. A growing number are interested in trades; some will enlist in the military; others will do an official gap year; and a few will pursue professional sports. The selection process is changing. Colleges communicate mostly through email, she said, and they track when a student opens their emails. And brochures have mostly been replaced by postcards.
