Accessible Essentials is a group of seven Evanston Township High School students who are participating in Emerge, a community service leadership program. The group is partnering with Evanston Community Fridges to bring toiletries directly to people in need.
This past month, they have spent about $300 to make around 70 bags of toiletries. Each bag contains toothpaste, a toothbrush, soap, deodorant, lotion, shampoo and conditioner, bandages, hand sanitizer and tissues. They have distributed the bags at all four of the community fridges, and within two days all of the bags had been taken.
This first round of the project has shown that there is a clear shortage of access to essential toiletries in our community and the group needs your help to solve it.
