A two-day series of seminars and professional development workshops hosted by Northwestern University’s School of Education and Social Policy and the Pritzker School of Law brings together leading scholars, legal experts, educators, community members and policymakers to discuss the educational, legal and community legacies of the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka.

The free two-day event takes place on Thursday, May 16 and Friday, May 17 in Evanston.

In the landmark 1954 Supreme Court case, the justices ruled unanimously that racial segregation of children in public schools was unconstitutional.

Key themes to be discussed include the influence of the Brown decision in Evanston and the impact of Brown from education, legal and policy perspectives. Panelists and round table participants will chart a path forward.
