
The Cherry Board of Directors announced Sarah Schoonyoung as the new Executive Director of Cherry Preschool. Schoonyoung is currently the lead teacher in the Pre-K Purple Room and in her ninth year of teaching at Cherry Preschool. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from St. Louis University, as well as a post-bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from California State University East Bay. Before joining Cherry Preschool, Schoonyoung worked at the renowned Charles R. Drew College Preparatory Academy in San Francisco. She raised her own children, who are proud alumni of Cherry Preschool.

With a strong academic background and a passion for early childhood development, Schoonyoung is committed to fostering an environment where each child can flourish. As Executive Director, Schoonyoung will build on the strong legacy of Cherry Preschool and continue to nurture the growth of our children. She will become the new Executive Director effective June 1 and will be working closely over the coming months with the current Executive Director, Debbie Boileve, the current Assistant Director, Maggie Hessler, and the rising Assistant Director, Lynn Fiedler, to ensure a seamless transition. Debbie Boileve and Maggie Hessler, founding board and staff members of Cherry, will be retiring after over 30 years of dedication to the school.
